Current individual and committee contribution limits
The following limit applies per election for contributions from a single individual or committee (excluding candidate committees) to a candidate:
• State Representative: $2,000
The primary election and the general election are considered separate elections. An individual can contribute the maximum amount for the primary and again for the general election.
Restrictions on specific groups
Certain groups have restrictions on campaign contributions. Corporations and labor organizations cannot contribute directly to campaign, candidate, exploratory, or political party committees but can establish a continuing committee (PAC). PACs can be funded by contributions or dues from their members, officers, or employees. Candidate committees cannot give to or receive contributions from other candidate committees. Federal or out-of-state PACs must register with the Missouri Ethics Commission if they contribute over $1,500.
Additional rules
Political parties can accept up to $25,000 per election from any single person or committee across all their committees (state, county, and local). Cash contributions to a campaign committee are limited to $100 per election. Anonymous contributions cannot exceed $25, with a maximum aggregate amount of $500 or 1% of total contributions per election, whichever is greater.
