I am Dr. Edgardo Baez, and I am the Republican Nominee for the 20th Congressional District of Texas. I am a soldier, a health care provider, and an attorney with over 35 years of public service.
I am running against an incumbent of the new Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) party.
Although we have many fundamental differences, as shown in the charts, my intent is to share three primary reasons I believe we need to REMOVE this Democrat from office.
First: Economic Failures!
• There is a High Poverty Level in the district (18.4% to be exact)
• There is economic segregation in the district ($61,570 Median Household Income)
• There is NO growth or support for small businesses (4 restaurants closed within the district)
Second: Public Safety Concerns!
• There is a high crime rate in the district (6.95% Violent & 54.05% Property Crimes)
• There is a high homeless population in the district (2nd highest homeless population in Texas)
• There is a high recidivism among youth (25% assessed high risk to reoffend)
Third: Educational Catastrophe!
• Need to improve reading programs (52% students are below grade level in reading)
• Need to improve Math programs (Only 18% students show proficiency in math)
• There are too many schools with an F rating (Edgewood, Judson, Harlandale)
These were the three primary reasons, among several others, that led me to run for a much-needed change in the district.
