Individual contributions may be accepted up to $2,900 for each the primary and the general election cycles totaling $5,800. Couples using a joint checking or credit card account may each contribute up to $5,800 to both the primary and the general election totaling up to $11,600.
Contributions from corporations, labor organizations, federal government contractors, and foreign nationals without permanent residency status (“green cards”) are prohibited. Federal election law requires political committees to report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 during an election cycle. Contributions are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
