Some friendships surprise you.

When I arrived in the Senate in January 2025, I didn't expect one of my closest working partners to be a six-foot-eight Democrat in a hoodie.

But that's exactly what happened.

Senator John Fetterman and I couldn't look more different. We don't agree on everything. But we both grew up in Pennsylvania. We both know what it means to fight for working families who feel like Washington forgot them. And we both refuse to let politics get in the way of getting things done.

That's why earlier this year, we introduced legislation together to move a key Department of Energy office from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania's energy workers and researchers deserve a federal agency that's actually close to the communities it serves, not tucked away behind a desk in the Beltway.

And when fentanyl, a crisis that killed nearly 4,000 Pennsylvanians last year, demanded action, I didn't wait for the perfect partisan bill. I introduced the Joint Task Force to Counter Illicit Synthetic Narcotics Act alongside Democratic Senator Chris Coons of Delaware and Senator Fetterman. Because 4,000 families don't care which party saved their loved one. They just want it to stop.

At the end of the day, our job isn’t about party politics. It’s about serving Pennsylvanians. As Pennsylvania’s two Senators, we serve the same folks and both work together to do what’s best for them. It’s what I’ve done since day one, and it’s what I’ll keep doing.

If you want to support my efforts to work across the aisle to get results for the people of Pennsylvania, please consider chipping in a donation today.

Sincerely,

Senator Dave McCormick
