The Oregon Political Tax Credit: It's your fifty bucks - use it or lose it!
Through our tax system, the State of Oregon gives each tax-paying Oregonian a $50 gift to use to promote their political values. But you can't keep it.
Instead, you must either pay it back in state taxes or donate it directly to a qualified political party, campaign, or cause. Imagine what we could do together if every conservative Oregonian donated $50 in 2024 to support our Republican values!
When you donate $50 to a qualified political party or campaign, the state will refund that same $50 to you when you file your tax return. Married, filing jointly? It's $50 per person, so you and your spouse can donate $100 and get it all back!
That's right: it's a full 100% credit, not a deduction.
The bottom line? By contributing $50 to the Oregon Republican party, you can help change Oregon’s future—and it won't cost you a dime. If you don’t use the credit, you give the money back to Oregon bureaucrats to use however they see fit.
As of the 2024 tax year, this tax credit is only available to adult taxpayers with incomes under $75,000 and joint filers with income under $150,000. The tax credit is non-refundable: If your taxes are already zero, the credit will not apply. To qualify, donations must be made before the end of the calendar year.
How do you claim the $50 tax credit?
You can claim the credit as a line item on your tax return form. Enter the amount of your donation up to $50 per person, and your tax liability will be reduced by that amount up to $100 on a joint tax return or $50 on all others.
You can choose what works best for you: You can make a one time donation or schedule a recurring, monthly contribution. We are grateful to have you partner with us with any level of support.
Thank you for supporting the Oregon Republican Party's work to create a stronger Oregon! Together, we CAN change Oregon's future for the better.
